The Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) released more than 5 million Philippine Identification (PhilID) cards for delivery to successful registrants.

As of Sept. 22, 5,024,018 cards have been turned over to the Philippine Postal Corporation (PHLPost) for delivery.

PSA said 2 million cards have been already delivered to the recipients.

“The PSA takes this milestone as another reason to be optimistic in achieving our goals for this year. Upon the establishment of PhilSys, the commitment has always been to provide every Filipino with easier and safer access to private and public transactions. Rest assured that we at the PSA will continue to work, in unity with our partner agencies, to deliver this commitment right into your doorsteps,” PSA Undersecretary Dennis S. Mapa, National Statistician and Civil Registrar General, said.

The Step 3 Registration for the Philippine Identification System (PhilSys) involves the generation of a unique PhilSys Number (PSN) and issuance of the PhilID.

The PSA partnered with the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas for card production while the PHLPost administers the door-to-door delivery.

With the increasing number of individuals who have already received their PhilID cards, the PSA continues to call on agencies and private institutions to accept the PhilID as a valid proof of identity.

Meanwhile, the PSA is set to launch a mobile ID as an alternative digital version of the PhilID card to accelerate the use of the PhilSys while registrants wait for their actual PhilID cards to be delivered.
