THE National Telecommunications Commission (NTC) won a Freedom of Information (FOI) award for transparency through the electronic FOI (e-FOI) portal.

In a statement, the telco regulator said the Presidential Communications Operations Office (PCOO) during the FOI Summit and Awards recognized the agency as one of the top requested and top performing agencies in the e-FOI portal of the government.

Since the program was implemented, the commission received a total of 97 requests from the public that were acted upon within 15 days, a deadline set in the FOI program.

It was acknowledged as “compliant and eligible for performance-based bonus” for 2018 because of its on-time submission and posting of FOI Program requirements in its web site.  “The NTC will continue to adhere to President Duterte’s call for transparency in all of the agency’s tasks by strictly abiding with the FOI Program,” NTC Commissioner Gamaliel A. Cordoba said.

A total of 305 government agencies participated in the development of the government’s transparency program.
