THE Philippine Overseas Employment Administration (POEA) has warned aspiring overseas Filipino workers (OFW) against bogus hotel-based job offers in Israel.

POEA Administrator Bernard P. Olalia issued the advisory after some unscrupulous individuals started using their signed Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) with Israel for the temporary employment of Filipino workers in the Israeli hotel sector to illegally recruit jobseekes.

Citing the report of the Philippine Overseas Labor Office (POLO) in Tel Aviv, Israel, he said a certain Donfrank Yabes has been offering jobs in hotel and restaurants in Eliat, Israel via Facebook.

Olalia pointed out the said claims are false since they have yet to start the deployment of Filipino hotel workers in Israel.  “The recruitment process is still on hold until internal procedures and guidelines are finalized and approved by both parties,” Olalia said in a statement.

POEA targets to complete the guidelines for the MOA within the year.

Under the MOA, only POEA will process the recruitment of Filipinos who would like to apply for hotel-related jobs in Israel.

“No private recruitment agencies or persons have been authorized to work on our behalf. Any offer of employment as hotel workers in Israel from third party, therefore, is considered illegal recruitment,” Olalia said.

Olalia urged jobseekers to disregard employment opportunities in hotels in Israel, especially those posted in social media.  The labor official said people who would like to apply for legitimate hotel jobs in Israel, should instead register at their e-registration website at https://eservices.poea.gov.ph/.
